- Description:
- Chinese printed book of 'Pictures illustrating cotton production (Huilie mianhua tu)', compiled by Fang Guancheng (1698–1768) with sixteen illustrations in ink on paper with silk covers, dated 1765. Inspired by the 1696 edition of 'Pictures of Agriculture and Sericulture', the book was produced to promote the latest technology for cotton cultivation and textile production in eighteenth-century China. The book contains sixteen illustrations, each accompanied by explanations of the process depicted and two poems, one by the Qianlong Emperor (r. 1736–95) and one by Fang Guancheng, the official responsible for the album’s creation.
