Model of a c. 600 AD Coptic binding made by Charles Lamacraft in London in 1935, following the structure and decoration of the original (CBL Cpt 813). The original book is now housed in modern boards with its binding fragments stored separately, many too delicate for display. The bookbinding features a pair of decorated leather straps that wrap around the book and are secured in place with bone ties.
