- Description:
- Proof print of 'Battle of Oroï-Jalatu' from the 'Conquests of the Western Regions' engraved by Jacques Philippe Le Bas after Giuseppe Castiglione, printed in ink on paper in Paris, France, and dated 1770. A manuscript slip is attached to the reverse of the print. This series of copperplate prints was made at the command of the Qianlong Emperor to commemorate his campaigns in Central Eurasia. The prints were prepared in Paris under the direction of Charles-Nicolas Cochin the younger.
