Papyrus fragment preserving a business letter probably written in Oxyrhynchus and dated by the editors to the late second century AD. The writer asks the receiver to pay the bearer, a woman from a village in the Oxyrhynchite nome, the sum of 500 drachmas for two arouras of land. It has been suggested that the transaction is a mortgage. The document on the reverse is defaced and has not been translated.
'Parais to his dearest Dionysius, greeting. Before all things I pray for your health with all your family. The woman who brings you this letter, Taphorsois daughter of Horus, her mother being Tapasiris, from Palosis, give her for two arouras at the village of Netro five hundred silver drachmas; and if you wish to make out the instrument in my name do so, or if you wish to make it in your name it makes no difference. Collect for interest on each mina four drachmas per month; but do not collect the interest for less than a year but collect the interest for a whole year. I pray for your health.'
